Boot camp

Ok, so I missed a post last week, oh well. This week will be different (obviously evidenced by this post) I promise.
Today I started boot camp at Fit One in Chico. After just one day, I am wondering if I will make it. The class is from 6am to 7am, and I am nothing even close to a morning person. So I started out by not being able to get to sleep last night until about 2:30 in the morning. I probably dozed off and on, but didn't get anything close to good rest, so 5am came way to early. I got up and made it to class on time.
Not sleeping was the least of my problems. The class is an hour of constant go, go, go and today was only the introduction. We did things like push ups, crunches, jumping jacks, squats, wall sits, we walked the perimeter of the basketball court doing lunges, then came the run. Now I hate running, always have and as far as I can tell always will. We only "ran" about .7 miles, and I use quotes because I ran probably less than 1/3 the distance. After the run we did more push ups, crunches, and jumping jacks. Not to mention every time one of us miss counted, or made some other mistake we were "rewarded" with more push ups.
After what I would consider working out constantly for an hour it was all over. Richard Jones gave Jeff Crawford and I a tour of the gym, not in it's self that bad of a thing, but there is a part of the gym that is up stairs, and not just 1 set of stairs, to see the whole thing you have to go up one set of stairs then back down and up another set of stairs and down again. Long story short I could have done without stairs after killing myself for an hour.
Ok, so class is now done so I can go about my day normally right? Wrong, everything from washing my hair to standing up out of a chair, to just carrying products around Radio Shack was very difficult. I didn't hurt all day, I could just feel the muscle fatigue. Now that the class was more than 12 hours ago the pain is settling in, and I am not looking forward to tomorrow. On top of that, I get to do it all again on Wednesday, and then once again on Friday. Then I get to start again on Monday next week, and over and over again for the next 4 weeks, woohoo!
The question now begs to be asked, why in the world would I pay somebody to torture me like this??????

More mean machines!

Ok, so I joined a gym. Actually my parents joined the gym, and I got added so that if only 1 of them is going I can go so they aren't there alone. The gym is an Anytime Fitness one, so anywhere I go if there is one there, I can use it. After just 2 visits, I have decided that any machine created by man with the purpose of getting us healthy is more likely intended to cause much pain! (notice the apparent lack of legs)

Maybe I don't exist

Ok, so I have taken a VERY long leave of absence from the blogging world. I don't promise to not take another, however I am planning on attempting a return. I have become very addicted to Facebook, and to a point that might be considered unhealthy. On top of the fact that since I have been gone I haven't done really much of anything. Now I don't have anything planned to blog about, however my life can't really be as boring as my blog would imply, then again, maybe it is.

Is it just me??

Ok, so on a recent visit to the local Dollar Tree store I saw something that was just plain wrong. Here it is the beginning of August and there were Christmas decorations. I understand that people doing crafts need that stuff now, but it was in the seasonal section, not in the craft section. Now I know that the first store to put up its Christmas stuff is most likely going to do the most business, and we are even beginning to anticipate our Christmas stuff at Radio Shack, but putting out decoration stuff this early in the year just seems wrong to me.

Latest diversions

Ok, so I have 2 new diversions in my life. One is good and healthy, as long as you don't over estimate you abilities, and don't have friends (or nephews for that matter) who are out to "kill" you. That diversion is swimming. I have been working my legs fairly well by bike riding, however that hasn't been helping my arms at all. I have only been 3 times in the last 2 weeks, but have felt the work out every time. I will probably only participate once a week or so, do to the fact that the lake where it would be free looks more like a mud puddle, and I don't want to be paying several times a week just to go swimming, and I have to wait for my schedule and friends with access to a pools schedules to coincide. Never the less, I have found that to be a great workout and lots of fun.

My other new addiction is no where near as healthy, mainly because computer games don't workout much more than the fingers needed to push the buttons. The price on this one is perfect though, and I have spent much more time on this than much else this week. A big part of that is that some of my nephews and one niece are here, at least that is my excuse. This diversion is call TrackMania. A racing game that is free to download, and play either on line or off. Some of the reasons this game has captured my interest so much is that it is a non-violent game with very challenging play and great graphics for the price. Here are some screen shots.

The Humbolt Fire is fully contained

Well, the Humboldt fire is now fully contained at 23,433 acres. They lost 74 homes and another 20 were damaged. Over 3,000 firefighters were involved, not to mention 10 air tankers, 7 helicopters multiple water tankers and bulldozers. There were only 9 injuries and none of them were serious. I will probably add to this post as other final numbers come out, and will add more pics and maybe videos as they continue to open up the areas to other than residents only.
